Rhythm and Legato

Rhythm: An element of design based on the repetition of recurrent motifs. The repeating design pattern is an example of this because the same design repeats continuously.

: Legato is a connected and flowing rhythm. The photograph above is an example of this.

Staccato: Contrasting to Legato, Staccato is abrupt changes in the visual pattern. If a random circle was placed somewhere in the pattern above, that would be considered staccato.
